Global Mammography Market: Global Size, Trends, Competitive, Historical & Forecast Analysis, and 2023-2029- Growing prevalence of breast cancer, rising government support and growing technological advancements are some of the major factors driving the growth of the Global Mammography Market.

Scope-

Mammography is a medical imaging technique that uses low-dose X-rays to examine the breast tissue for the detection of breast cancer or other breast abnormalities. It is a specialized diagnostic tool used by healthcare professionals to identify any changes in the breast tissue that could be indicative of cancer or other breast disorders. The mammography procedure involves the use of a mammography machine, which is designed specifically for imaging the breast tissue. During the procedure, the patient stands in front of the machine, and the breast is placed on a flat plate that compresses the breast tissue. The compression of the breast tissue helps to spread the breast tissue out evenly, reducing the amount of radiation required to produce an image. The mammography machine then takes two X-ray images of the breast, one from the top and one from the side, to create a detailed image of the breast tissue. These images are called mammograms and are analysed by a radiologist or a specially trained healthcare professional to look for any abnormalities or changes in the breast tissue. In the 1930, Dr. Stafford L. Warren, a radiologist and physicist, began researching the use of X-rays to detect breast cancer. He developed a technique that involved compressing the breast tissue between two X-ray plates, which helped to improve the clarity of the images. Dr. Warren's work laid the foundation for modern mammography.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the global mammography market, as many healthcare facilities postponed non-essential procedures including mammograms to prioritize care for Covid-19 patients and reduce the risk of transmission. This has led to a reduction in the number of screenings being performed and has affected the growth of the market. Additionally, supply chain disruptions and manufacturing delays have impacted the availability of mammography equipment and accessories, leading to delays in installations and upgrades. However, as healthcare services resume and patients feel more comfortable returning to healthcare facilities, the demand for mammography services is expected to increase, resulting in a positive outlook for the long-term growth of the market.

The global mammography market is segmented based on product, technology, end-user, and region & country level. Growing Prevalence of Breast Cancer, Rising Government Support and Growing Technological Advancements are Some of the Major Factors Driving the Market Growth

One of the major factors driving the growth of the global mammography market is the increasing incidences of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, and its incidence is increasing globally. The rising incidence of breast cancer is driving the demand for mammography screening. For example; according to the World Health Organization, in 2020 there were about 684,996 deaths from breast cancer worldwide that is breast cancer was responsible for 11.7% of all cancer deaths among women in 2020.

In addition, the rising government initiatives is another factor boosting the market growth. Governments worldwide have launched breast cancer screening programs to increase early detection rates and reduce mortality. These initiatives have contributed to the growth of the mammography market. For instance; as per the news published on November 25th, 2022; The cancer foundation New South Wales (NSW) as of late selected South Korean startup Lunit's artificial intelligence (AI)-based mammography analysis solution " INSIGHT MMG " for its BreastScreen NSW's (BSNSW AI assessment and clinical combination project. The BSNSW administration of Australia intends to offer free mammograms to ladies matured 40 or older. Such coordinated efforts will assist in the early diagnosis of breast cancer and further fuel the development of the mammography market.

Moreover, the growing advancements in technology are also boosting the growth of the global mammography market. For example; in May 2022, Volpara Health presented refreshed items for its integrated platform for the delivery of personalized breast care at the SBI/ACR Breast Imaging Symposium 2022. Volpara's AI-driven breast programming instruments give mammography quality and revealing, volumetric breast density estimations, and cancer risk appraisal.

However, high cost of mammography systems and strict regulatory policies may hamper the growth of the global mammography market. Despite that, the development of advanced mammography technologies may provide an opportunity for the further growth of the global mammography market.

North America is Expected to Dominate the Global Mammography Market

North America is expected to dominate the global mammography market within the forecast period due to the rising prevalence of breast cancer, the technological advancement, and presence of key players in this region. For example; according to the American Cancer Society (ACS); in 2022, it is projected that 43,250 women and 530 men will die of breast cancer in United States. Also, presence of key players drives the market in this region. For instance; in January 2022, ScreenPoint Medical extended its presence in the US and in 30 nations worldwide with the launch of Transpara a AI Breast Care system.

Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing region in the global mammography market because of a rising cases of breast cancer and growing government initiatives in this region. For example; as per Indian Cancer Society, there are about 1,70,000 breast cancer cases are probably going to develop in India by 2020. As per research, one in each 28 ladies is probably going to get impacted by the illness. Growing number of supportive government initiatives also drive the market growth  in this region. For instance; in October 2021, the government in Goa launched a drive for free breast cancer evaluating for one lakh ladies.

FathomX Pte Ltd., a Singaporean Company that Researches AI-based Mammography Diagnostics, Launches Joint Research with the National Cancer Center (NCC)

On February 24th, 2023; FathomX Pte Ltd launched joint exploration with the National Cancer Center (NCC). The organization is involving artificial intelligence and deep learning to conduct R&D for early conclusion of breast cancer. In mammography-based cancer screening, the organization's restrictive simulated AI innovation makes it conceivable to recognize indications of carcinogenic tissue on X- ray images more rapidly and precisely than before, for features in pictures that are hard for people to identify.

Fujifilm’s ASPIRE Cristalle Digital Mammography System Received Health Canada Medical Device License

On October 14th, 2021; FUJIFILM Canada Inc. announced that the organization got Health Canada medical device license for its ASPIRE Cristalle digital mammography arrangement and declared its expansion of the association with Christie Innomed to offer the item with superior service in each area across the country. ASPIRE Cristalle is included with Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) innovation, otherwise called 3D mammography. DBT is an advanced type of breast imaging that utilizes a low dose x-ray system to make three- dimensional pictures of the breasts, which can assist radiologists with better visualize injuries that can be darkened between fluctuating layers of breast tissue.
