The Forestry Equipment Market is valued at USD 8.48 Billion in 2020 and expected to reach USD 12.92 Billion by 2027 with a CAGR of 4.3% over the forecast period.
Global Forestry Equipment Market: Global Size, Trends, Competitive, Historical & Forecast Analysis 2021-2027- Mechanization and automation of most forestry processes is one of the major factors anticipated to drive the growth of Global Forestry Equipment Market.
The forestry equipment is the machinery used for the harvesting, excavating and finishing of a wooded area and it also helps in the process of logging. The forestry equipment helps in the construction, clearing the forest for replanting the trees, and other applications. The market is dominated by the availability of numerous different types of forestry equipment such as harvesting equipment comprised of the series of bunchers, excavating machines comprising the saws used to bring down a tree, loaders, and harvesters, and finishing machines.
The forestry industry has been hit hard due to the outbreak of the Covid-19, that has also impacted the forestry equipment market. The imposed lockdown during the first half of the year 2020 has enforced some downstream wood processors to close provisionally which led to the downfall of forestry equipment market.
The global forestry equipment market is segmented based on equipment type, power and region & country level. Based on equipment type, the global forestry equipment market is classified as loaders, harvesters, skidders, forwarders and others. Based on power, the global forestry equipment market is classified as oil, gas and electric.

July 7th, 2020; Kobelco launched SK140SRL-7 for forestry and logging applications. Like all next-generation Kobelco machines, the SK140SRL-7 has been designed to deliver greater efficiency and productivity with increased power and speed, as well as improvements in design for enhanced operator-based comfort and safety. However, this machine also incorporates a number of important features that enable it to provide exceptional performance in forestry and logging. Usually found on larger machines, the SK140SRL-7’s longer crawler length of 3,790mm and wider shoe (900mm) provide low ground pressure (28kPa) on soft ground, while the top-class ground clearance of 580mm (compared with 425mm on the conventional SK140SRLC-7) adds to smoother travel and easier manoeuvring.
In addition, the machine’s higher standard operating weight of 16,600kg provides better stability, particularly when working with complex attachments, and two types of optional counterweights (580kg and 1,000kg) are also available to further increase stability. The SK140SRL-7’s short radius design provides a smaller working footprint, ideal for areas of dense forest, and the increased drawbar pulling force of 153kN (compared with 138kN on the SK140SRLC-7) provides enhanced traction.
The fast-emerging countries are showing a major shift toward mechanization and automation of most forestry processes which are reducing labour cost, and it is anticipated to boost the demand for forestry equipment in the near future. On the other hand, government also encouraging the implementation of forestry machinery and equipment to boost the productivity which is likely to fuel the growth of forestry equipment market. In addition, increasing investment in the forestry field is also supplementing the market growth. For example; according to the latest Savills Spotlight report; a record £205.5m was invested in the UK forestry market in the year to 30 September 2020. Up from £119m the previous year, the figure shows that interest in the sector is continuing its long-term growth. Furthermore, rising number of technological development in forestry machinery, which improves machine efficiency and operational cost to benefits the consumers are also fostering the market growth.
However high cost of equipment along with high maintenance cost and lack of information are likely to hamper the market. In spite of that, increasing investment in R & D in this field to develop more innovative solutions may offer more opportunities for the further growth of the market.
North America is expected to dominate the global forestry equipment Industry and likely to maintain its dominance over the forecast period. The agricultural policy in the region ensures financial stability which in turn avail high end equipment for agriculture and forestry. On the other hand, constant rising demand for forest products such as herbs woods minerals and others owing to the increased health awareness which in turn promoting market growth. Moreover, surge in business activities for various forest products and services has created demand for heavy duty forestry equipment. These equipment’s can be used for segregation, chopping, for storing logs, collection, and other products smoothly which has created demand for forestry equipment. Asia Pacific is expected to witness a fastest growth in the global forestry equipment market owing to supportive economic policies in this region.
