Scope of Global Delivery Robots Market

Delivery Robots are entities operated using machines used for the sole purpose of delivering different types of goods. Machines are not in humanized forms but can have various designs based on delivery material. A robot that looks like a four-wheeler operated without a driver can be used to make heavy deliveries. Drones, small aerial robots are used to make deliveries of lightweight precious materials. The technologies used in these robots are vastly varied depending on delivery distance and path. Sensor technologies are used in robots that are used to make short-distance paths that have minimal obstacles. Infrared sensors are the main components of these robots which detect an obstacle in the path of delivery and the robot takes an alternative path. Robots are used for making deliveries for complex paths.

They have computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies to detect the nature of obstacles in the path and take independent decisions. Drones have both of these technologies involved in their functioning. These robots are designed to negate any human interventions but many times operators are required to if the robot is unable to resolve any obstacles detection and move forward. Currently, they are developed to be operational for eCommerce websites but in the future, they can be used to make local business deliveries without the presence of e-commerce platforms.

The Covid-19 pandemic has also impacted the growth of the global delivery robots market. The pandemic has created a need for social distancing due to the spread of infection. The human-less delivery provided by delivery robots has been a valuable asset in recent times. Hence, there is an exponentially increasing demand for delivery robots. The pandemic has also caused a shortage of semiconductors which is the main component in many electronic devices using delivery robots. Hence the production of delivery robots is reduced in this period.

The global Delivery Robot market is segmented into loading capacity, component, a number of wheels, end-user, and region & country level. Based on loading capacity, the global delivery robot market is divided into 10 Kgs, up to 100 kgs, and up to 1000 kgs. Based on components, the global delivery robot market is divided into hardware and software. Based on a number of wheels, the global delivery robot market is divided into wheelers, 4 wheelers, and more than 4 wheelers. Based on end-user, the market is classified as FMCG, retail, healthcare, postal, and others.

The regions covered in the global delivery robot market report are North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. On the basis of country level, the market of the global delivery robot is subdivided into the U.S.A, Canada, Mexico, U.K., France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and India.

Delhivery Acquired Transition Robots Inc.

On December 21st, 2021; Delhivery acquired California-based Transition Robotics Inc, which develops Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) platforms. Delhivery did not disclose the financial details. “All IP registered in the US is assigned to Delhivery with this transaction, strengthening its capabilities in a wide range of applications, including aerial photography, remote sensing, inspection, and surveys,” the IPO-bound company said. This is Delhivery’s second acquisition after Spoton Logistics in August for $300 million. That was done to strengthen its business-to-business (B2B) capabilities. Last month, Delhivery filed its draft prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for a Rs 7,460 crore initial public offering (IPO).TRI “seeks to unlock new markets and applications for its customers and has a proven track record of shepherding innovative concepts to production.

Global Delivery Robots Market Dynamics

The increasing growth of eCommerce businesses is the major driving factor for the growth of the delivery robot market. In the earlier decade, there was a lot of apprehension regarding e-commerce websites as no data safety protocols were present. The evolution of digital currency usage and the paperless economy campaign with the presence of stringent protocols regarding the exchange and cash backs have to lead to a rise in the e-commerce market. For instance;  In 2020, over 3.4 billion people purchased goods or services online which retails to an 800% growth as compared to 2010. Looking at these statistics, it is very evident that e-commerce companies have grown tremendously and will continue this exponential growth. As e-commerce businesses offer door-to-door delivery services, delivery robots are a major asset for these companies as conventional delivery methods which take place through delivery officials can be expensive. Even though initial production cost is very high for delivery robot manufacturing in the long run they are very profitable as eliminating a majority of the workforce will lead to huge revenue savings.

Additionally, the omnipresent need for unskilled workers is another reason which drives the need for the delivery robot market. Due to the high standard of living in developed countries which gives rise to subsidized educational institutions most of the developed countries' population is evolved as skilled professionals. Hence, there is an ever-present need for unskilled laborers. Due to the presence of this disparity, the unskilled labor force demands a substantial income. Delivery robots cost 20% of minimum delivery wages in the USA. Hence conventional delivery methods are not economically viable as compared to delivery robots. Furthermore, some developed countries especially in Europe are scantily populated since the 19th century. The officials from Schengen visa information said that Germany needs 400,000 new workers per year to fill the labor market. Hence, these delivery robots are a good replacement for this labor requirement in developed countries.

However, due to the increase in delivery robots and other automation technologies availability, many people will lose their employment, especially in developing countries. However, as these technologies will require skilled labor for operating and maintenance of these products there is a silver lining in the job availability market Many companies have started skill centers that provide technical education and subsidized rates.

Global Delivery Robots Market Regional Analysis

Geographically, North America is expected to dominate the global delivery robot market owing to the presence of leading eCommerce companies in the region and also the rising demand for unskilled laborers. Ecommerce websites are booming in North America for the past decade. A stark example of this growth is Amazon, the world’s largest eCommerce platform based in USA. These eCommerce platforms in turn generate the need for delivery robots. In addition to this, some of the world’s best research institutions like Stanford University reside in the USA. The website studee.com states that the best country to study robotics is USA. This shows that that extensive robotics research takes place in the USA. Also out of the 10 most successful delivery robot companies, 7 are present in the United States.

Europe is also expected to witness a significant growth in the global delivery robot market owing the increasing popularity of e-commerce platforms and the presence of population disparity in this region.
