Global Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Market is valued at USD 5.16 Billion in 2020 and is expected to reach USD 7.86 Billion by 2027 with a CAGR of 6.2% over the forecast period.

Global Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Market: Global Size, Trends, Competitive, Historical & Forecast Analysis to 2021-2027, Increasing awareness of consumers regarding the harmful effects of animal testing on the environment and strict regulations introduced by the government to ban the process of testing cosmetics products on animals are some of the major factors driving the growth of Global Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Market.

Scope of Global Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Market:

Cosmetic products which do not harm or kill animals anywhere in the world as they are developed without any tests on animals are known as cruelty-free cosmetics. The benefits of cruelty-free cosmetics are generally healthier, lead to more mindful beauty practices, and aren’t tested on mice, rabbits, cats, and even dogs as they are subjected to chemicals so users would never consider putting on their own pets also. With the use of these cruelty-free cosmetic products, users have the power to create change by not purchasing their usual products and going with cruelty-free alternatives instead.

Thus, when enough people take a stand, companies of cosmetics products begin to change their practices, and this cruelty-free becomes the standard. Also with these products, users can save money as many cruelty-free companies are budget-friendly. From the high quality, amazingly affordable, E.L.F. cosmetics to multi-purposed so many great brands are there that do not do animal testing so users are saving animals and money at the same time. This cruelty-free term was first used in this way by Lady Dowding who convinced manufacturers of cosmetic products of fake furs for using the label Beauty without Cruelty. She went on to found the charity beauty without Cruelty in 1959.

COVID-19 has negatively impacted the growth of global cruelty-free cosmetic industry due to the government's strict regulations, lockdown, and social distancing. Additionally, various countries have applied strict lockdown due to this all types of industries are getting shut down similarly, the cosmetic industry is no exception. Due to lockdown transportation of material supply has faced issues and it also affected manufacturing and production. Most of the companies had to cut staff or send their employees home for work, which reduced production rates. In addition, the cosmetic industry suffered a similar decline in the European region. However, after releasing some restrictions e-commerce sites are started to deliver cosmetic products and it will help to increase the sale of the cruelty-free cosmetic industry.

News: Elf Cosmetics Announced Its Launch in India for Its Wide Range of Cosmetic and Skincare Products.

On January 2021; Elf Cosmetics is one of the leading vegetarian and cruelty-free makeup brands, launched its product range in India in January. The brand is retailed by the online beauty platform Nykaa. Elf Company announced the launch on Christmas in India. The brand offers a wide range of products, from skincare to various makeup products. All of their products are vegetarian, including their makeup brushes. Most makeup brushes on the market are made from animal fur, mainly from minks.

Increasing Demand for Cruelty-Free Cosmetics and Growing Popularity Regarding Organic & Natural Skin-Care Products are the Major Factors Driving the Market Growth.

Growing awareness of consumers about the harmful effects of animal testing on the environment, the demand for cruelty-free cosmetics is increasing. Various laws are enacted to ensure that companies do not test their products on animals. For example; in 2018, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a non-profit research and advocacy organization based in the United State, co-sponsored the Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Act, which was signed into law by the California government. The law makes it illegal to sell any cosmetics in California to cosmetic manufacturers if the final product or any component of the product has been tested on animals after January 1st, 2020, with a few exceptions to regulatory requirements. In addition, in 2013, the European Union (EU) banned the testing of animal cosmetics in European countries and the marketing or sale of tested cosmetics on animals outside Europe. Since then, Norway, Taiwan, Israel, Turkey, India, Switzerland, Guatemala, and New Zealand have banned animal testing. This has led to a huge increase in demand for cruelty-free cosmetics worldwide.

In addition, rising popularity regarding organic and natural skin-care products is also aggressively increasing among consumers and further supplementing the demand worldwide. For instance; according to an article published in 2021, one out of four consumers would like to prefer eco-friendly skincare brands. Also, nearly 70% of U.S. consumers aged 18 to 29 specified that they favored natural and organic skincare products. Similarly, approximately 50% of the people from the U.S. only purchased organic skincare products. Nowadays, many people are conscious about the product developed without any tests on animals and hence the demand for organic products is increasing. Organic beauty products not only wonder for skin and internal health, but also for making a positive impact on or environment. Since there are no any severe elements used in these products, there is expressively less waste and toxins going down the drain. Therefore, skyrocketing demand for organic and natural skin care products is intensively propelling the growth of the cruelty-free cosmetics market globally.

Furthermore, social media campaigns pointed at animal welfare have reduced consumer conscientious regarding lifestyle choices and considerably showed an advanced inclination for cruelty-free makeup brands. This is also flourishing the market growth all over the world. However, the use of many injurious colorants such as butylparaben, aluminum, and methylparaben in cruelty-free makeup products, which are related to chronic diseases, may hamper market growth. Despite this, augmenting the penetration of social media platforms and upsurge of beauty influencers may create lucrative opportunities for the further growth of the market.

North America is Expected to Dominate the Global Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Market

North America is expected to dominate the global cruelty-free cosmetics market with the highest share within the forecast period due to the launch of innovative and novel cruelty-free cosmetics by leading players, rising trend of veganism, growing consumers’ preference for these products, and increasing population shifting from animal-based beauty products to plant-based beauty due to various health and environmental concerns in this region. For example; e.l.f. Cosmetics is an American cosmetics company, recently launched cruelty-free and vegan Big Mood Mascara in the beauty market. Also, the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are among the major markets contributing to the regional market growth due to the strict regulations on animal testing and on the use of harmful chemicals.

Europe is the second highest region in the global cruelty-free cosmetics market due to the increasing demand for natural and organic products, rise in consumer awareness about cruelty-free makeup products, and strict regulations introduced by the government to ban the process of testing cosmetics products on animals in some countries such as Germany and France. Thus, a number of companies continuously launch products with naturally occurring constituents. For example; PHB Ethical Beauty is a leading company in ethical beauty products in the United Kingdom.
