These are also used to channel the flux emitted by permanent magnets in permanent magnet motors. Soft Magnetic Materialss are used in DC applications in the field of magnetic shielding. First Soft Magnetic Materials was invented in 1900 by Barret; Brown Handfield which was Si steel plate (Fe-1.5 to 2.5% Si) then in 1923 Arnold Elemen used Permalloy (Fe-Ni).

Fraunhofer IFAM Launched New Research Area on Soft Magnetic Materialss

On July 30th, 2020; Germany, The Fraunhofer Institute for manufacturing technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM), launched a new research area working group on Soft Magnetic Materialss. This research is important for highly topical areas of renewable energy and electro mobility. The increasing demand of energy globally and growing electrical market explains the institute. Approximately 9% of total energy generated is lost during transformation and transmission and energy losses in electromagnetic components play a decisive role in this research. This institute said that, by using improved Soft Magnetic Materialss, energy losses can be reduced and a decisive contribution made to the preservation of resources. The aim of this IFAM institute is to produce soft magnetic components with high performance and lowest possible losses.
