Global Specialty Mowing Market Dynamics

The increasing urbanization across many regions has been attributed to the growth of residential spaces with lawns and enhancing demand for mechanized lawn mowers to maintain the lawns across vicinities. As per Our Word in Data, more than 4 billion people live in urban areas worldwide. It is estimated that more than two-thirds of the world population will live in urban areas by 2050. This urbanization necessitates the development of smart cities and green spaces, which need the construction of new buildings and the maintenance of public green spaces and parks. Several of the world's population enjoys more economic affluence with a significant economic expansion in the past 25 years. All these factors are increasing the demand for specialty mowers worldwide. Many players recommend mower renting services to address the rise in demand. This rise in spending is expected to boost the number of green spaces around cities, requiring the use of specialty mowers, resulting in an enhanced demand across the globe.

In addition to above mentioned driver, increasing advances in the artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data are significantly driving the robots into most aspects of life. Increasing reliance on automation has led the companies to move towards robotic in the specialty mowers as well. To align with ongoing technological developments, many companies are investing in the robotic mowers. For example, in 2019, Mean Green Products, LLC (Mean Green Mowers), a leader in commercial electric mower manufacturing, collaborated with The Kobi Company, a leading company in robotic solutions to establish a safe, economical, convenient and vast area robotic lawn mower. Recently, Toro has launched new robotic mower that proposes cutting-edge, easy to deploy technology and never-before-seen features. Smart connected, and autonomous technologies in mowing industry is gaining a traction across the world. This ongoing trend is substantially booming the market expansion for specialty mowing.

However, rising safety regulations and stringent emission standards are impacting the market. For example, in accordance with US Environmental Protection Agency, gas powered mower emits as much pollution as 11 cars operated for an hour. As a result, this could be an adverse impact on the ecosystem and hence this may hamper the market growth. Despite this, growing technologies like AI in robot system, and other technologies are generating huge opportunity for the market.
